I photographed Beppu City, Ōita Prefecture, at the same locations both approximately 100 years ago and in the present. I then overlaid the past and present photographs and applied onsen dyeing. The future imagined by the people of a century ago, and the past that we now see from 100 years ago. Today, due to excessive extraction and geothermal power development, the temperature of the hot springs has decreased, leading to a decline in their flow. Will these hot springs, a blessing from the heavens, still remain 100 years from now?


およそ100年前の大分県別府市の風景と現在の別府市を同じ場所で撮影した。その後、過去と現在の写真を重ね合わせ温泉染めを行った。100年前の人たちが描いた未来、私たちが見る100年前の過去。現在、温泉は過剰なくみ上げや地熱発電の開発などにより、源泉の温度が低下する事によって温泉が減少している。天からの恵である温泉は、100年後の未来にも残っているのであろうか?
