I photographed the landscape within a one-kilometre radius of my parents' house in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, my hometown. In 2024, I visited Seoul, South Korea. The landscape of South Korea resembled that of Japan, but since I couldn't read Korean, I felt as though I was perceiving the urban landscape as geometric shapes. The square signs with unreadable characters seemed to have lost their function of conveying information and existed merely as outlines. After returning to Japan, I began taking photographs with the aim of capturing the urban landscape of my hometown in its purest form. This includes the route from the nearest station to my parents' home, the paths to my elementary, middle, and high schools, and the streets leading to shops I frequently visited with friends. I sought to reinterpret the most familiar local landscapes as geometric shapes such as lines, curves, squares, and circles, and to reconstruct the local landscapes I had observed for years from a new perspective.

私は、故郷である福岡県飯塚市の実家から半径1キロメートル圏内の風景を撮影しました。2024年、私は韓国・ソウルを訪れました。韓国の風景は日本の風景に似ていましたが、韓国語が読めなかったため、都市景観を幾何学的な形として捉えているような感覚になりました。読めない文字が書かれた四角い看板や建物は、情報を伝える機能を失い、単なる輪郭として存在しているように見えました。日本に戻った後、故郷の都市風景を最も純粋な形で捉えることを目的として写真を撮り始めました。これには、最寄りの駅から両親の自宅までのルート、小学校、中学校、高校への道、友人たちとよく訪れた店の道などが含まれます。最も馴染み深い地元の風景を、線、曲線、四角形、円などの幾何学的な形状として再解釈し、長年見てきた地元の風景を新たな視点から再構築することを目指しました。
