Car Reflection

Car Reflection

Are shiny new things beautiful because they’re shiny and new? Are the dirty or old therefore ugly? This was my thought when walking through town and looking at the cars parked alongside the road. Despite all reflecting the same surroundings, depending on the colour of their paint, their shape or the angle you observe them from, or even their cleanliness, what was actually reflected back at you was completely different. A tree reflected in a brilliant red car looked like a painting of a Japanese maple in autumn, but in a an older car with sharp angles that same tree is turned into an abstract work of art, while the dust of a long unwashed car becomes part of the tree’s design. When reflected in the cars around us, the world we live in feels a little bit bigger.
